Building a Custom Home – Don’t Have Land Yet

At Schumacher Homes, we’ll break ground on your dream home on the land you choose. If you have a lot, great! If you don’t have land, no problem. About half of our homeowners come to us without land. We’re here to help.

Homeowners commonly consider these factors when selecting land for their future home:

  • Do you want to live in a community/development or in the country, often with more land?
  • Do you desire to live in a certain school district?
  • How much land do you want? And how much land do you want to maintain?
  • Does the lot have the option for city water and sewer, or will a well and septic system be needed?
  • How far off the road do you want to be? This may affect the length of your driveway and utilities.
  • Speaking of utilities, do you prefer natural gas as a fuel source for heating or is all-electric or another source more comfortable for you?
  • Do you want a wooded lot or few trees? Do you prefer a farm, want a pond or river? These decisions could impact your lot preparation for the home and its location on the lot.
  • Do you want a sloped or flat area?
  • How close to work or shopping do you want to be?

Since every lot is different, as part of your lot walk and quote, we will estimate the costs involved to get your site ready for your new home – but rest assured – all the work will be handled by us.
